Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan, born on October 11, 1942, an Indian film actor, gained popularity in early 1970s. Today he is one of the prominent icons in the history of Indian cinema. Bachchan was popular from many of his olden cinemas and now has turned the film industry over with lot of different appreciated roles. He has won major awards in his career, including three National Film Awards and twelve Film Fare Awards. He holds the record for number of Best Actor nominations at the Film Fare Awards. With a proven success in acting, Bachchan has worked as a playback singer in many films. Apart from this he has taken efforts as a film producer and television presenter, and was an elected member of the Indian Parliament from 1984 to 1987.
